Monday, January 30th is a teacher workday.  Students do not have school.
PTA
Your school has a PTA that is part of both the Virginia PTA and the National PTA. The purposes of the PTA are:
-To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community and place of worship
-To raise the standards of home life;
-To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children;
-To bring into closer relation the home and school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth; and
-To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.

Alvey PTA is led by an elected executive committee of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and School Principal.

Join the Alvey PTA
The PTA is a partnership of teachers and parents working together  to create the best learning environment and educational opportunities for J. W. Alvey students.  The PTA provides our school with resources to purchase equipment, such as classroom Smartboards, and also provides funds each year for teachers and specialists to purchase needed supplies.  The PTA also coordinates educational programs and fun student events to keep the Sunrays shining!

The fee for Alvey PTA membership is $7.50 per person, per year.  Members must re-join each year.  If a student's household has more than one adult who would like to join, each adult must pay the $7.50 fee.

To join the PTA, please complete the downloadable membership form below.  The information that you provide will be used to develop a PTA directory that will be available to all members.    Please only include information that you want to be included in this directory.

Please send this form and your payment to school with your child in an envelope addressed to Alvey PTA.  Please make payment in exact cash, or by check made payable to Alvey PTA.
